SHEY LANG

Class(es): A Modern Twist

Shey began dancing and performing when she was 6 years old. Her training is rooted in classical ballet beginning with the Cecchetti ballet method. She quickly branched out into other classical techniques; Balachine, Vaganova, and Royal Academy in ballet as well as codified modern techniques such as Horton, Cummingham, and Graham all form the foundation of Shey’s dance education.

Her dance experience also includes stylistic genres such as tap, lyrical, and contemporary, which earned her spots in dance intensives with David Taylor Contemporary Ballet, Colorado Ballet, Joffery Ballet, and Tony Coppola Tap Company. She was also afforded the privilege of studying cultural dance styles such as African tribal, Irish Step, American clogging, east and west coast swing, salsa, folklorico, and belly dancing.

Her professional career began at the young age of 12 when she performed with Feet First Dance Company touring the southwestern US and Mexico in 2002 and 2003. Shey then studied dance at the University of Wyoming while performing with the Colorado Dance Collective beginning on 2009. She then became the jazz director and assistant ballet director beginning at Dance Collective in 2014 where she worked with incredible performers on technique and original choreography until 2020.

Shey moved to Atlanta in July 2020 and has been looking for a dance home since. She is very excited to be back in the studio and teaching once again at Dance 101!
