BARRY THOMAS

Class(es): Tap (beginner & intermediate levels)

Barry Thomas received his B.A. in dance at the prestigious Butler University. Several seasons in summer stock found him with his first job in New York and the world famous Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. After numerous shows in and around New York, Michael Bennett cast Mr. Thomas in the role of Don Kerr for the Broadway and International Company of A Chorus Line. He performed with the company for a year, where they eventually headed for Atlanta.

He has worked at the Manhattan Yellow Pages in the Omni, the Harlequin Dinner Theater and the Alliance Theater. He co-authored the highly acclaimed His, Hers, and Ours, with Mr. McCann, at Showcase Cabaret. He also performs and choreographs for many productions throughout the metro area. He was resident choreographer for the Dekalb Music Theater, at Georgia Perimeter College from 1986-1996. He was Director and Choreographer for the Atlanta Dance Works. After a brief hiatus from dance he has returned to start teaching and choreographing at Dance 101.

His alter ego is just as creative. Barry is an event and floral designer. You will find him building theme sets and props, personal and bridal floral, extravagant buffet and tablescapes, installing corporate and private parties, and loving the completed project, but hating to take it down usually after midnight. He has worked for such companies as J Patrick Designs, Event Design Group, Legendary Events, Concepts Remembered and SE Events. When asked how he survives a busy schedule, his answer of course, is “Vodka and Tap!”
