LARA MCGEE
Lara McGee has danced professionally with The Georgia Ballet, Watershed Dance Theatre, Dance Canvas, and Refuge Dance Company. She trained at the Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance in Roswell, Georgia where she was a member of the student company, Roswell Dance Theatre (RDT), for 8 years. As a member of RDT, she received training in ballet, pointe, Horton and Graham modern, jazz, and contemporary. During the summers, she trained with American Ballet Theatre, The Rock School, Joffrey Ballet NYC, Joffrey Ballet South, Dance Canvas, METdance Houston, Point Park University, Colorado Conservatory of Dance, the National Choreography Intensive, the Georgia Governor’s Honors Program as a Dance Major, and the Voronezh Ballet in Russia.
Lara holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Emory University and Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Dance Science from the University of Georgia. Her undergraduate honors thesis explored the topic of Injury Prevention in Ballet Training. Lara has participated in the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre’s Horton Teacher Training and Full Radius Dance’s Teacher Training, focusing on physically integrated dance (primarily dance using wheelchairs). Her choreography has been presented in a number of settings including for the stage and for film. Lara is thrilled to be sharing her love of dance at Dance 101!
