This beginner class (some prior dance training required) will take you on a "remixed" ride into the choreographic imagination of Ofelia de La Valette, whose movement quality is a fluid, funky and eclectic fusion of straight up jazz groove: subtly powerful, soft yet sharp and full of contradiction, the movement begins slowly and intensifies with the music, by the end of the hour you'll be a happy sweaty mess. Short warm up, followed by 50 minutes of non-stop, high energy dance.
This class is called Jazz Roulette because of Caitlin's vast choreographic repertoire-- which includes every incarnation of Jazz imaginable: Commercial Jazz, Contemporary Jazz, Broadway jazz and Burlesque... (Lyrical Jazz has its own class on Wednesdays 5:30pm). This 90 minute class includes a full technical warm-up and across-the-floor sequences before heading into the combination. Leaps & Turns is an important component in every dancer's repertoire and will enhance all dance styles. This class is geared towards dancers with some prior experience wanting to progress quickly into upper level classes. Learning how to correctly spot enables dancers to improve and maintain balance and control while executing turns. This class will focus on the most basic of turns (chaine, pique, pirouette) through the advanced turns (attitude, arabesque, coupé, fouetté, à la seconde, multiple pirouettes) and variations of all of the above.

Calling all Atlanta DIVAS! Let your hair down (literally- hair whips are strongly encouraged here) and dance to some of the hottest POP music around. Influenced by the moves of Britney, Beyonce and Janet, this class is for anyone who wants to learn some of the iconic POP steps without traveling to LA. One specific piece of technique will be highlighted- then echoed in Peter's sizzling jazz choreography: Learn it then dance it out!
If you are a jazz lover (specifically in the style of Gus Giordano), just go ahead and tell everybody now that you're busy Monday nights at 8pm - because this is where you will be. Everything you love about traditional Giordano jazz is packed into this class: Jazz walks, Battements, Pas de Borres, Triplets, Chasses, Chaines, single Pirouettes, isolations, leaps and across the floor combinations. Oh, and 20-30 minutes of choreography (which will pull from the across the floor sequences).
This class will build upon Beginner Turns & Leaps by incorporating more challenging sequences across-the-floor with Beg/Int level jumps, leaps and turns. At this level of training, you will develop greater control, technical understanding and strength to not only help you execute more advanced skills, but to also do them safely. This instructional class is perfect for dancers who are preparing for pro dance team and theatre auditions, as well as those of you who simply want a few more tricks in your dance bag.
