Bene C

Class: Salsa Blast
Location: Alpharetta, GA

Bene C. was born and raised in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. Her family came to the Virgin Islands from Puerto Rico. As a Hispanic, Bene learned to dance Salsa, Merengue, and Bachata from her mother who also has a passion for dance/music.

At age 7, she began dancing with Caribbean Dance School of the Virgin Islands and learned basic Ballet, advanced Modern, advanced Smooth Jazz, and advanced Afro Caribbean dances. By ages 12-13, she won a full scholarship and attended the Summer Arts Camp at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan.

Upon her return, she auditioned and became a dance company member for Caribbean Dance Company and travelled to Europe, several states in the United States, and a few Caribbean islands. At age 19, she was given the opportunity to teach for one of the In-school programs for students between the ages of 5-12 years old.

Between then and now, she’s learned Capoeira (a Brazilian Martial Arts), attended classes at a few dance studios in North Carolina and Georgia, and won first place at the Atlanta Open for Newcomers in Rumba and Cha-Cha-Cha Ballroom Latin dances.

At the age of 15, Bene made the decision to teach dance to the world and give students the opportunity to learn her cultural dances. She is truly honored to teach Salsa and Caribbean Calypso at Dance 101.
