(alpharetta) We are closed this Thursday but the show must go on!

Dear Dancers, Artistic Athletes and Dreamers!

And what a show it was! 70 dancers, half of whom were from Alpharetta, in 6 magnificent pieces, performed to 3 sold out audiences (about 400 people) this past weekend. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Take a look at this image and tell me what do you see?

This candid shot was taken Sunday night by AnnMarie Spexet (who performed in David's Jazz Funk piece). Moved by the image of dancers backstage straining to watch the show through the narrow entrance to Studio 2, she grabbed her camera and shot this. What so strikes me about this image is how beautifully it illustrates the spirit of dance 101; our sense of community, love and support for one another. Thank you AnnMarie for capturing this moment!

Out of the frying pan and back into the saddle (there's no rest for the wicked around these parts!) work is currently underway to book the line up for the next "I'd Rather Be Dancing!" Season 9, August 11-13th. Enrollment will begin next week after we announce choreographers. There will be two pieces rehearsing in Alpharetta... details to follow! Stay tuned!

In Studio News:

WE WILL BE CLOSED on Thursday evening May 4 (open for day classes only).

We reopen Thursday evenings next week, May 11 with two new classes hitting the schedule: Power Barreat 5:30pm and Vegas Jazzat 7:30pm, both taught by newcomer, Shana Henning. If you haven't met Shana yet, you will soon! She'll be on the desk Tuesdays and Thursday evenings in addition to teaching her new classes. Try these new classes for free! Reserve your spot by clicking HERE.

Power Barre: More than a play on words (you'll want a power bar to help you recover), this is a Barre class workout that actually has Ballet in it.  Science meets the arts in this fusion class which blends the artistry of ballet barre with isometrics to reap the benefits of bodyweight exercise (creating lean versus bulky muscle mass). Firm and tighten as you gracefully transition from one exercise to another. Hit all the right areas: core, glutes and legs. And abs, abs and more abs! This gentle but intense barre workout creates muscular strength and definition and is a must do for dancers, non-dancers and bikini models :-).  We are sure you fit into one of those three categories... Thursdays at 5:30pm

Vegas (Cardio) Jazz:
Sassy, jazzy and cardio intensive: if you love Jazz and are in need of a sweaty but stylized workout, meet Shana Henning. Recently retired from a highly successful performance career that began at Disney and leading to the Las Vegas stage where she performed in "Vegas! The Show!", Shana joins Dance 101 with her hour long jazz workout (with Vegas quality performance choreography you can do in your sneakers. What?) Her upbeat dance remixes of today's pop hits will keep you energized and dancing up a sweat. Step off life's treadmill and dance yourself into a higher level of fitness. And when your friends ask what you're doing to be in such great shape, you can tell them you workout with a former Vegas showgirl. #truth Thursdays at 7:30pm

On the horizon...

Our beloved Luke will be joining our new mid-day gentle class line up with From The Ground Up, 2-3pm on Mondays debuting May 15th. SUCH a beautiful class! Gently athletic and great for newcomers. Soothing music, flowing contemporary movement (done barefoot)... just a beautiful class - am I repeating myself? (can't help it)  This class follows my Dancer's Stretch 1-2pm. Add some mellowness and beauty to your Mondays as you stretch, move and energize every muscle in your body!  Try this class for free on May 15th! Reserve your spot by clicking HERE.

As always, do what you love and watch more of it show up in your life!

Exercise your dreams, Alpharetta!
