(ATL) Why fake it when you can shake it?

We have a lot to cover in today's 101, so I'll keep my New Orleans recap short... Let's just say thank goodness for two days of kickball otherwise I would NOT have fit in the car on the ride home... the Nola cuisine did NOT disappoint. From homemade crawfish etouffe (aka butter butter butter) to beignets the size of my fist (from Cafe Du Monde of course) to the incredible brie and prosciutto crepe (from my new favorite brunch spot, Toast)... I almost forgot that I was there for a tournament and not a food tour. #priorities 

Now just a few mentions before we get to it... Congrats to Lauren on a very successful Barre & Bae themed Ballet Barre Fit this past Sunday and thank you to those that brought their Bae/Boo/Beau... rumor has it, she might have scored a new batch of regulars. Lastly, starting today, every 101 will end with a Class Spotlight. Sometimes we put more focus on the shiny new classes and forget about the amazing gems hiding on the schedule... #rude

Dear Dancers, Artistic Athletes and Dreamers!

And the beat goes on. Hello February!

Or in Lisa Mongell's case: Buh Bye 13 pounds! She is the winner of our 30 Day "Dance Yourself Fit" Challenge! Way to go, Lisa! Please congratulate her when you see her - and let her ecstatic energy tag you - as it did me. I happened to be at the studio during her final weigh in and I will never forget how she screamed when she saw the numbers on the scale.  It went something like this: OOOOOOFEEELIAAAAAAAAAAA!   But before you go down the wrong Rabbit Hole with this, consider that there are very few dance 101ers who come to the studio specifically and exclusively to burn off weight. That's not to say people don't want to trim down - it's just not the focus of why we are here - and yet it's a benefit of being here.  The crazy thing is that it happens while we are doing something we enjoy - hence the disbelief in Lisa's scream.  Life just doesn't work that way. Losing 13 pounds in one month by taking ballet, jazz and stretch classes is akin to eating cheesecake every meal and dropping 10 lbs in a month.

(ATL) So many great classes popping up this weekend!

I know it's Wednesday but I feel like the week is just getting started with all that we have going on over the next few days! Boy do I wish I could take part... Lucky you can have a Friday Night Lights moment (On The 50 with Vera); Lucky you get to jam out with the coolest OTP chick I've ever met (dance fitness pop up Saturday 930am); Lucky you get to watch your Bea/Boo/Beau channel their inner Baryshnikov/Misty Copeland (Ballet Barre Fit this Sunday) but alas, I'll be kicking big orange balls in New Orleans at my first ever traveling kickball tourney... I know... what is this life I live?! The good news is I feel confident knowing you lucky people are rearranging your schedule as you read this to make sure you don't miss a moment... now to help you make sense of what I just said...
