(ALPHARETTA) Dance 101 parallels life
Posted by Ofelia

Dear Dancers, Artistic Athletes and Dreamers!

Dance attracts the most extraordinary people (yeah, I'm talking about you). Why is that...? Well, actually I do have some thoughts on this topic - thought it might be fun to share them with you.

Dance class offers so many metaphors for life. In fact, the parallels are mind blowing.  You may not realize this, but when you walk into a dance class, you are making a declaration to the universe about your attitude towards life and about how you see yourself. You are expressing your willingness to be vulnerable and to feel uncomfortable because you understand that THIS is the price of learning, of knowledge and of growth. It takes an extraordinary soul to brave this level of courage. Specifically, the courage to be really bad at something in order to become really good at it. And how about the courage to look foolish (although you never do) while learning? These are extraordinary human qualities! People that have these qualities live exciting, abundant and rewarding lives! And guess what? You are surrounded by this kind of human breed every time you step into class.

Anyone else starting to feel the effects of this beautiful warm weather... such as happiness, more energy, and sneezing so hard your socks fly off your feet? Yea, me too. I think the groundhog lied to us, Spring is closer than we think... joke's on us for letting a marmot predict the weather. Either way, I'm not mad about it, I might still dress like an eskimo behind the front desk but I'll be relieved to not have to dress like one outside haha.

We have a lot to cover in today's 101, so I'll keep my New Orleans recap short... Let's just say thank goodness for two days of kickball otherwise I would NOT have fit in the car on the ride home... the Nola cuisine did NOT disappoint. From homemade crawfish etouffe (aka butter butter butter) to beignets the size of my fist (from Cafe Du Monde of course) to the incredible brie and prosciutto crepe (from my new favorite brunch spot, Toast)... I almost forgot that I was there for a tournament and not a food tour. #priorities

Now just a few mentions before we get to it... Congrats to Lauren on a very successful Barre & Bae themed Ballet Barre Fit this past Sunday and thank you to those that brought their Bae/Boo/Beau... rumor has it, she might have scored a new batch of regulars. Lastly, starting today, every 101 will end with a Class Spotlight. Sometimes we put more focus on the shiny new classes and forget about the amazing gems hiding on the schedule... #rude
