Porter Grubbs

Porter Grubbs is a movement artist from Dothan, AL. He began his training at Troy University, during which time he also attended intensives such as the Alabama Dance Festival, the American Dance Festival winter workshops in New York City, and the American Dance Festival summer program, where he was on scholarship for six weeks in Durham, NC. He has worked with Sidra Bell in her winter|module at Center for Performance Research in Brooklyn and has recently studied with David Zambrano and Renan Martins at Danscentrum Jette in Brussels, Belgium.

His choreography has been featured in multiple performances at Troy University as well as in showcases at the American Dance Festival, the Alabama Dance Festival, and at Eyedrum Art & Music Gallery in Atlanta, GA. Porter has studied extensively with acclaimed artists such as Brenda Daniels, Wes Chapman, and Gerri Houlihan, and he has performed repertory by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, Lar Lubovitch, Ohad Naharin, Merce Cunningham, and an excerpt of a work by Kyle Abraham titled The Watershed. Most recently, Porter performed with Atlanta-based company T. Lang Dance at the High Museum of Art’s Summer Kickoff event.
